TruthQuest History
Founded in 2003, the TruthQuest Apologetics Institute began as an outgrowth of
Chris Sherrod’s desire to train youth, college students and adults to better grasp
and convey their faith. Each of our conferences are designed to target the specific issues that are relevant to the Christian today (i.e., evolution, morality, cults, etc.). Some are geared for high school or college students, some for home schoolers, and some for
adults, but all are intended to strengthen the believer’s confidence that their faith is in a
trustworthy object.
About the Director
Chris Sherrod is founder and director of TruthQuest Apologetics Institute
and has been equipping Christian students for over 15 years as a Bible teacher, camp director, student pastor,
conference speaker and author. After majoring in education at Auburn University, Chris went on
to receive his Master of Arts in Religion from Liberty University. His study series, Fact, Faith
& Reason, specifically focuses on training believers to understand and articulate their faith.
Chris and his wife Katie have been married for thirteen years and have six children, whom they
home-school.
We Believe. . .
1. In one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit;
2. The Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired Word of God, without error in the original writings, the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men and the Divine and final authority for Christian faith and practice;
3. That Jesus Christ, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin, Mary, is fully God and fully man. He died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures. Furthermore, He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, and now sits at the right hand of God the Father, acting as our High Priest and Advocate;
4. That the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify Jesus Christ by convicting of sin, regenerating the believing sinner, indwelling, guiding, instructing and empowering the believer for godly living and service;
5. That man was created in the image of God, but fell into sin and is therefore lost. Only through regeneration by the Holy Spirit can salvation and spiritual life be obtained;
6. That the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only ground for justification and salvation to all who believe, and only those who receive Jesus Christ through faith are born of the Holy Spirit, and thus become children of God;
7. That water baptism and the Lord’s supper are ordinances to be observed by the Church during this present age. They are, however, not to be regarded as means of salvation;
8. That the true Church is composed of all such persons who through saving faith in Jesus Christ have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and are united together in the body of Christ of which He is the Head;
9. In the personal and second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ;
10. In the bodily resurrection of the dead - the believer to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord, and the unbeliever to judgment and everlasting conscious punishment.
